Our connection with Peru is through Mark Russell and Khipu Coffee, based here in Liverpool but with family
and a team on the ground in Peru.

Mark spends a lot of time in Peru finding coffees, visiting producers and building the relationships behind them.

That local connection is important to us. It means there’s someone we know and trust who understands both sides of the relationship — what producers are trying to achieve in Peru and what we’re looking for as a roaster in Liverpool.

Mark has also helped introduce us to coffees and producers we probably wouldn’t otherwise have found. Peru is a huge and difficult country to travel around, so having someone consistently looking, tasting and building relationships there makes a real difference.

Through Mark and Khipu we’ve been introduced to small producers and communities whose coffees, until relatively recently, had very little visibility outside their own region.
