This anaerobic washed coffee is from Finca Artemira, a family run farm led by Ebert Huaman Villegas, a young and determined coffee producer from Salinas. This is the second year we have bought coffee from Ebert, with Last year being the first time he has exported outside of Peru.

We also have a Gesha variety from this farm available in a small quantity available here.

Finca Artemira is a single farm in Cajamarca close to the border with Ecuador. The farm has been growing coffee and raising cattle for over 40 years but since 2017, Ebert decided to venture into coffee and plant new varieties into new hectares with new cultivation techniques and processes. It currently cultivates 15 hectares of coffee and 1 hectare with fruits and vegetables.

Ebert has invested in his and his family's future by enrolling in coffee courses provided by Central Cafe y Cacao - a Peruvian organisation dedicated to improving coffee production and processing techniques. From these courses, Ebert learned about a double fermentation process, which he now uses with all of his coffees; this process has garnered consistent results over the years.

This green coffee is sourced through Mark Russel at Khipu Coffee. Mark is based in Liverpool and has Peruvian heritage. He has a passion for Peruvian coffee and maintains close relationships with producers, like Ebert, providing a platform for their outstanding coffees. Mark showcases the vibrant culture and extraordinary flavours of Peru, while supporting the people and communities that make it possible.

Mark was introduced to Ebert through a mutual friend and this coffee marks Ebert's second coffee export out of the country as his coffee was previously sold exclusively in Peru. He has personally met all of the farmers of the coffees he has brought to the UK. We are very excited to be working with Mark and continuing to showcase Ebert's coffee.
